1960 Fairchild acquired one third of SGS, an Italian semiconductor manufacturer and a joint venture was formed, SGS-Fairchild, to exploit Fairchild's planar technology; SGS was owned by Olivetti and Telettra[1]
1962 Formed in the UK, a US-Italian-British concern involving Fairchild Semiconductors with SGS, an Italian company.
1963 Began production at a temporary plant at Ruislip
1967 Transferred to the Falkirk plant
1967 SGS-Fairchild had 21 percent of the British market for integrated circuits
1968 Details of their new plant for mass production of semiconductors [2]
1968 Fairchild withdrew from the joint venture because difficulties in their main business and the different direction that the market was taking in Europe compared with USA.
By 1972 was SGS (United Kingdom) of Falkirk
By 1977 was SGS-ATES (UK) Ltd, of Falkirk
