S. Hope Morley

Samuel Hope Morley, 1st Baron Hollenden (3 July 1845 - 18 February 1929), was a British businessman.

Morley was the son of Samuel Morley and Rebekha Maria Hope, daughter of Samuel Hope of Liverpool. The Liberal politician Arnold Morley was his younger brother.

He was a partner in the firm of I. and R. Morley and served as Governor of the Bank of England from 1903 to 1905. In 1912 he was raised to the peerage as Baron Hollenden, of Leigh in the County of Kent.

Lord Hollenden married Laura Marianne, daughter of Reverend G. Royds Birch, in 1884. He died in February 1929, aged 83, and was succeeded in the barony by his son Geoffrey. Lady Hollenden died in 1945.

Connected with the Leigh Volunteer Fire Brigade

1898. The chair at the recent dinner in aid of the funds of the Royal Hospital for Diseases of the Chest was occupied by Mr. S. Hope Morley.
