1870 Established as S. A. Sadler by Samuel Sadler.

1883 The company was registered on 29 March, to take over the business of S. A. Sadler, manufacturing chemist and tar distiller. [1]. Incorporated as a Limited Company.

Subsequently had branches at Ulverston, Portsmouth, Stockton-on-Tees, Carlton, County Durham, and elsewhere.
