Wetley is one of the trade names used by Sampson Smith. established at Longton in 1846.

Sampson Smith part of the Alfred Clough Group in 1954. The wording "bone china" was introduced from c1945. Also produced china under the name Old Royal.

1922 Listed Exhibitor. Manufacturers of China Tea, Coffee, Morning and Breakfast Services in many decorations; Badged China for Hotels and Institutions; Teapots, Coffee Pots, Hot Water Jugs, Dishes. (Stand No. G.25).[1]
