"SAMUEL BREWIS SCOTT was in the service of the London County Council and the London Passenger Transport Board as a rolling stock engineer during almost the whole of his professional career.

He was born in Northumberland in 1875 and after serving an apprenticeship with a constructor of rolling stock continued his education at Armstrong College, Newcastle upon Tyne. He then held some local appointments before joining the staff of the London County Council as rolling stock inspector in 1905. He was made a technical assistant after nineteen years' service and promoted to be senior technical assistant in 1932. On the formation of the London Passenger Transport Board a year later he was transferred to the staff of that Authority and continued to act in the same capacity until his retirement in 1940.

During the war of 1939-45 Mr. Scott returned to active life and was attached to the transport department of the Forestry Commission at Bristol, but after holding this appointment for a year he was obliged to retire on account of illness. His death occurred on 5th November 1948. He had been an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers since 1918."
