Samuel Briggs (c1847-1928) founder of S. Briggs and Co

1928 Died. 'A native of Stoke-on-Trent, he came to Burton as apprentice to the late Mr. Bindley, and on the death of Mr. Bindley he took control of the firm, and in 1886 changed the name to S. Briggs and Co. Mr. Briggs was one of the founders and the first president of the allied Brewery Traders Association. He was Chairman of the British Pure Yeast Co which he helped to found in 1892.'[1]
