1882 Description of the electric light system installed in their establishment which had a dynamo driven by a 12 HP Otto gas engine, 20 Jablochkoff arc lights, each of 378 candle-power. The cost was £150 p.a., using the lighting for an average of 3 hours each night. Each lamp cost 1d. per hour, and the gas used per lamp also cost 1d. per hour.[1]

1897 The company was registered January 22, 1897, to take over the business of tailors and army contractors of the firm of the same name.
