Samuel Eilon

Samuel Eilon, Fellow, graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa in 1945. After a spell in industry and in the Israeli armed forces, he came to Imperial College where he was awarded a DIC and PhD in 1955. Subsequently he became a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department (with responsibility for the newly-established postgraduate course in Production Engineering), joining the Technion in 1957 to become an Associate Professor in Industrial Engineering.
In 1959 he returned to Imperial College (as Reader in Production Engineering), introduced the postgraduate course in Operational Research and Management Studies in 1961, and the title Professor was conferred on him in 1963. He has also held a Professorial Research Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and a Visiting Fellowship at University College Cambridge; he is Deputy Chairman of Spencer Stuart Corplan Ltd. and Head of the Department of Management Science (established at Imperial College in 1971).
