1935 'The Warwickshire Coal Co operating the Coventry Colliery at Keresley, near Coventry has made arrangements, to acquire the Sandwell Park Colliery. West Bromwich. The Sandwell Company works the South Shropshire thick coal seam, and there are said to be valuable deposits awaiting development. The pit has been in existence for more than 60 years, and was at one time a very prosperous concern, the share capital being largely held in West Bromwich...'[2]
