Santiago and Pontevedra Railway

From Graces Guide

1863 The society Ferrocarril Compostelano de la Infanta Doña Isabel was created in Santiago de Compostela.

1863 An agreement was concluded between Innocent Vilardebó and John Stephenson Mould for the construction of the railway between Santiago and the port of Carril.

1866 The company was sold to the West Galicia Co

1873 The line opened on September 15 between Cornes (Santiago de Compostela) and Carril.

1888 After abortive attempts at auctioning the line, as no tenderer was available, the Coruña Santiago and Peninsular Railways Co Ltd was granted the operation of the line between Pontevedra and the Port of Lane.

1889 The concession of the 33 km between Pontevedra and Carril was finalised on April 8.
