1881 Living at Elmfield Hotel, St. David's, Exeter: Edwin Banfield (age 68 born Chadzoy, Soms.), Hotel Keeper and Blind. With his wife Ann, their son Douglas and his niece Sarah Sumner (age 50 born Leine), Hotel Manager.[1]

1891 Living at Elmfield Hotel, St. David's, Exeter: Edwin Banfield (age 78 born Bridgwater), Hotel Keeper and Blind and a Widower. With his niece Sarah Sumner (age 60 born Seend), Manageress.[2]

1901 Living at Elmfield Hotel, St. David's, Exeter: [[Sarah Sumner) (age 73 born Wilts), Hotel Manager. With two nephews and two nieces (Banfields).[3]

1910 July 12th. Died at 47 Mount Pleasant Road, Exeter, age 83.
