Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway

1846 The company was sanctioned and incorporated.

1852 It was opened from Shrewsbury to Ludlow on Apreil 26th 1852, and from Ludlow to Hereford on Deemeber 5th 1853.[1]

1853 Opened to passengers. [2]

The line carried on as an independent railway until 1870 when it was leased to the London and North Western Railway and Great Western Railway jointly.[3]

1870 By an Act of Parliament, the undertaking was vested in the London and North Western Railway and Great Western Railway. [4]

1923 Became part of London, Midland and Scottish Railway and Great Western Railway. [5]
