1939 Died. 'HE death is announced of Mr Sidney Fussell, of The Glen, Redland. Bristol, who had unique record service in several phases of social and public life. He was the fourth son of Mr Abraham Fussell, of Kingswood Kill, who, with Mr Daniel Flook, founded the boot manufacturing industry at Kingswood. and he was born at Kingswood in September 1858. He received his early education at the old British Schoolroom, Kingswood, and after a period at the Merchant Venturers' School in Bristol he joined his father. He took a prominent part in the negotiations between manufacturers and workers which led to the settlement of wage basis agreements. A great believer in the value of education, he was elected to the first school board established in Kingswood. He was chairman of the board for many years until it was superseded, when he became a member of the Gloucestershire Education Committee....Mr Fussell was married in 1886 and had seven children, four sons and three daughters.'[1]
