1858 Launched, the largest sailing vessel ever built on the Mersey

The Simla was an iron ship, built at Birkenhed by Messrs. Peto, Brassey, and Co. of 1,501 tons register, 220 feet on the load line, 36 feet beam. Her owners were Messrs. Charles Moor and Co. She was built for the Calcutta tea trade.
