1898 Simplex steel conduit invented[1] by a Mr Waterhouse; the steel conduits were used for carrying electric cables[2].

1898 Simplex Steel Conduits company formed.

1901 Catalogue issued [3]

1903 Opened premises at 165a, West-George-street, Glasgow under the management of D. G. Brooks.[4]

1905 the company moved to larger premises in Garrison Lane, Birmingham, which became the Head Office for a rapidly expanding network of factories and offices in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Swansea and Bristol[5].

1906 Simplex Conduits company was registered on 4 April, to acquire the business of the Simplex Steel Conduit Co. [7]
