1847 'Fatal Accident.—On Tuesday Mr. Dearden,coroner, held inquest at the Cotton-Tree public-house, Bury, on the body of John Massey, aged 23 years. It appears that about a month ago, deceased was employed in removing a turn-table off a cart onto a lurry at Messrs. Simpson and Bland's iron-foundry, when it fell upon his right foot, and injured it so that he had to undergo amputation. He lingered until Friday last, when he died. Verdict, "Accidental death."'[1]
