'This Company has been formed for the purpose of acquiring a Freehold site situate at Winthorpe, in the county of Lincoln, containing by admeasurement 2A. 2R. 7P., with the Two Brick Kilns and other Erections, and now in the occupation of Trustees of the late Mr. Hobson Dunkley, for the sum of £250. It is intended to erect on part thereof and to work, a Steam Laundry, embracing the most improved and modern Machinery and Appliances for Washing, Cleansing, and getting all Family, School, and Hotel linen in the best possible manner.'[1]
