1781 Advert: 'SKINNERBURN FOUNDERY.
January 22, 1781
AUBONE SURTEES, Esq; and Co. beg Leave to acquaint their Friends and the Public, that they manufacture Cast Metal Guns, any Size or Dimenssions, bored out of the Solid, which are allowed to be so much superior to those made as formerly with Bores. - also COHORNS, from 3 to 32 Pounders; Swivels, &c. &c.
Those Merchants or Owners of Ships who may please to favour them with their Orders, may depend being supplied upon the shortest Notice.
Of whom may also be had, on the most reasonable Terms, every Article in CAST METAL, Wholesale and Retail.'[1]
