1846 Slack, Willifer and Slack were at 98 Medlock Street

1864 William Slack left the partnership with George Brownlow, at No. 88, Upper Medlock-street, in Hulme, and at No. 1, Victoria-street, Manchester, as Water Filter Manufacturers and Dealers; George Brownlow carried on the business[2]

1889 Dissolution of the Partnership between Eleanor Brownlow and Frederick William Brownlow, carrying on business as Filter Manufacturers, at Canning Works, Medlock-street, Manchester, under the style or firm of Slack and Brownlow, from the 30th day of December, 1889. On and after that date the business will be carried on by the undersigned, Eleanor Brownlow, Frederick William Brownlow, Herbert Harrison Brownlow, and Richard Sydney Brownlow, under the style of Slack and Brownlow.[3]

1905 The Slack and Brownlow filter was exhibited - a sterilizing device for use by troops in the field[4]

1921 Moved to Tonbridge to be nearer the docks, since much of their output was exported to hot countries. Along with a sister company, British Berkefeld Filters, they took over the former premises of the failed car manufacturing venture, Storey Motors[5]

1932 Deed of Arrangement registered on the 19th day of May, 1932, between Herbert Harrison Brownlow and Richard Sydney Brownlow (trading as Slack and Brownlow) and the Berkefeld Filter Co (British), of Town Mills, Tonbridge, Kent, and Sardinia House, Sardinia Street, Kingsway, London, W.C., and also as The Denton Brick and Tile Co, Newhaven, Sussex, and VERNON WALKER, as Trustee.[8]
