Soar Navigation

From Graces Guide

The River Soar rises in Leicestershire, flows through Leicester and near to Loughborough before joining the River Trent at Ratcliffe-on-Soar. It was made navigable to boats and several shortcuts were built.

1784 The section of the River Soar between Loughborough and Leicester was made navigable.

1814 The Grand Union Canal connected the Soar to the southern canals and to London.
