1875 'The South-Eastern Engine Works and Brass and Iron Foundry
THOMAS KNOX Begs to inform his numerous friends and patrons that he has taken the extensive Premises adjoining, or in close proximity to the South-Eastern Railway Station, where he intends carrying on business as an ENGINEER and IRON and BRASS FOUNDER, where castings of any description may be had in either loam or sand on the shortest notice.
In making known the aboye to his numerous customers T. K. hopes, with perseverance and good workmanship, to still maintain a share of their patronage and support.

1888 'T. KNOX Engineer and Iron Founder, BEGS respectfully to inform his patrons that in order to better accommodate his customers, he has OPENED a STORE in HARBOUR STREET (At the side of Mr. Woodhurst’s Shop), Where a STOCK of CASTINGS suitable for Shipping and other purposes will in future be kept. All orders left at the Branch Depot will be promptly attended to.'[3]

1890 'Mr. A. T. Knox claimed for joint occupation of the South Eastern Iron Works. Mr. Lewis, who supported the claim, said Mr. Knox was a partner in the business, which was carried on in the name of his late father. Mr. Griggs suggested that the claimant merely managed the business for bis mother, who was solely rated for the premises. After considerable discussion, the case was allowed to stand over for the attendance of Mr. Knox, who subsequently appeared and satisfied the Barrister as to the genuineness of his claim, which was then allowed.' 1891 Advert: 'ENGINEER’S SHOP & IRON FOUNDRY. FOR DISPOSAL, as a going concern, the SOUTH-EASTERN ENGINE and IRON WORKS; for many years successfully carried on by the late Mr. Thomas Knox.— For price and any further particulars apply to Mrs. Knox, Snowdrop Villa, Belmont Road, Ramsgate.'[5]
