South-West England and South Wales Electricity Scheme
1930 The seventh of the schemes proposed to the Central Electricity Board for linking up the national electricity network. Six existing power stations were selected for the scheme:[1]
- Cardiff
- Hayle
- Newport
- Portishead
- Southampton
- Upper Boat (South Wales Electric)
Two new stations were also selected, one to be in the vicinity of Southampton, the other in South Wales.
Eleven other stations were selected for temporary use under the scheme. Outlying areas would continue to be served by local stations until suitable arrangements for supply could be made.
