1905 the Southwell Gaslight and Coke Co Ltd, was liquidated, having been bought out by Messrs Derbyshire, Chartered Accountants of Bentinck Buildings, Nottingham. The new company, the Southwell and District Gas Co Ltd bought the Farnsfield and District Gas Co and consequently supplied Southwell, Halam, Edingley and Farnsfield. The Southwell District Gas Act 1908 extended the limits of supply and incorporated the company. The gasworks was located on Easthorpe St and Crew Lane.[1]
