1894 Re-located to Exeter to work for Willey and Co after he patented coin-operated gas meters and the company was interested in producing them

1911 Living at Tregear, Spicer Road, Exeter: Stephen Simpson (age 41 born Mansfield), Company Director - Gas Engineering. With his wife Marion and their two daughters. Four servants.[1]

1939 Living at Spitchwich Manor, Poundsgate, Newton Abbot: Stephen Simpson (born 1899 July 25th), Engineer. With Stephen J. V. Simpson (born 1915), Engineering draughtsman.

Raised funds for the repair of Exeter Cathedral after bomb damage in WWII.
