Steward and Patteson

of Pockthorpe Brewery, Barrack Street, Norwich.

1793 Founded when John Patteson bought Charles Greaves and Co brewery in Pockthorpe.

1794 Acquired James Beevor and Jehosophat Postle in Norwich, and Fisher's North Quay Brewery in Yarmouth.

1820 Two members of the Steward family joined the company. John Patteson retired and his son John Staniforth Patteson continued the business

1830 George Morse became a partner

1845 Acquired the Yarmouth brewery of Samuel Paget and Son with 25 houses

1866 Acquired Bell's of Gorleston with 20 houses

1878 Acquired Bircham and Sons (Reepham) with 52 houses.

1895 Incorporated as Steward and Patteson

1949 Acquired Soames brewery

1949 Two directors are C. H. Finch and D. C. Steward

1963 Acquired by Watney Mann

1970 Ceased brewing.
