Mr STEWART A. ANDERSON, OBE (Member), former Chairman of the Singapore/Malaya Joint Group of the Institutions of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, died 28th October after several major operations.

In 1926 he joined Ritchie and Bisset, Consulting Engineers and Marine Surveyors, Singapore, as an assistant engineer and entered the partnership in 1932. He succeeded to the senior partnership in August 1952 and served in this capacity until his retirement in August 1966.

Always ready to impart knowledge to others, he served on the Board of Directors of several companies, including Singapore Cold Storage, Singapore Dairy Farm and the Far East Oxygen and Acetylene Co.

Mr Anderson, who was a kind and valuable friend was always ready to help younger members with advice. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and colleagues.
