Strand Hotel

Subsidiary of J. Lyons and Co

1907 The company was registered October 31, to acquire a long lease of land situate in the Strand, Burleigh Street, and Exeter Street, London, and to erect thereon “a popular-priced hotel.” - presumably Strand Palace Hotel, London.

1915 Opened the Regent Palace Hotel, London.

1961 Opened the Ariel Hotel at Heathrow; a new hotel was under construction in Birmingham[1] which would become the Albany Hotel.

By 1965 controlled Cumberland Hotels, in conjunction with J Lyons[2]

1967 Lyons acquired the shares in the company it did not already own[3]

By 1969 the company was Strand Hotels Ltd

1972 Lyons sold the lease on the Strand Palace[4]
