1824 September 24th. Meeting held at the George Inn, Stroud with John Hinde Pelly as Chairman. A committee was formed with Pelly and thirteen others (named) with the aim of getting a Bill approced in Parliment for the build. The proposal is brought about by the high charges of the Stroudwater Canal Co. [1]
