From Graces Guide

Swansea Corporation built a power station between 1899 and 1901 in the Strand near the North Dock

1900 Started to provide a general supply of electricity.

By 1924 the station had 23 MW capacity but this struggled to meet the demand so the need for a new power station was being discussed.
