Professor Théophile Guibal.

Born 31 July 1814 in Toulouse.

Died 16 September 1888 in Morlanwelz (Belgium).

He was one of the founders of the Belgian School of Mines (École des mines) in Mons, Belgium, now the Faculté polytechnique de Mons.

He his best known for his work on the ventilation of mines, including his invention of the Guibal Fan.
