1891 Living at Rolle Street (Shop of House Decorator), Exmouth: Thomas Abell (age 42 born Hatherleigh), Builder and Decorator - Employer. With his wife Mary A.; son Thomas B. Abell (age 11 born Exmouth); George J. Abell (age 8 born Exmouth); and Albert R. Abell (age 3 born Exmouth).[1]

1911 Living at 9 Raleigh Villas, Exmouth: Thomas Abell (age 62 born Hatherleigh), Builder and Decorator - Employer. With his wife Elizabeth and one daughter.[2]

1945 'Mr. T. ABELL, of Rolle-street, Exmouth, and of Hatherleigh, left £20,735 gross, with net personalty £17,562 (duty paid £1,502). He bequeathed £1.000 each to his sons Sir Westcott Stile Abell, Prof. Thomas Bertrand Abell, and George John Abell'[3]
