Thomas Alexander Borthwick (1885-1941)

Thomas Alexander Borthwick was born in 1885 and received his technical training at the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, Bristol.
Following his engineering apprenticeship he became a Draughtsman with Wolseley Tool and Motor Co., and in 1912 went to Australia as General Manager of the Central Queensland Engineering and Motor Co.
Following the war, when he served with the Forces, he became Assistant Manager of the Bombay Motor Co.
He later returned to Australia and was Chairman of the I.A.E. Australian Centre from 1934-36. He was the designer of the first two B.S.A. models.
He died on 15th November, 1941, at the age of 57.
He was elected a Member in 1920.
