1824 Born in Edgbaston son of John and Mary Chatwin, gilt toy maker[1]

1846 A blacksmith, Thomas married Mary Morton in King's Norton[2]

1851 Tool maker, employing 4 men, lived in Birmingham St Philip, with Mary Chatwin 25, Alfred Chatwin 3, Emma Chatwin 1[3]

1853 Married Susan Langley in King's Norton[4]

1858 Patent. '1318. And Thomas Chatwin, of Birmingham, in the county of Warwick, Machinist, and Charles Taylor, of Birmingham aforesaid, Machinist, have given, the like notice in respect of the invention of "improvements in screw stocks."'[5]

1871 Engineer, tool manufacturer, employing "200 pairs of hands", lived in Edgbaston with Susan Chatwin 36, Alfred Chatwin 23, Amina Chatwin 15, James Chatwin 16, Thomas Chatwin 13, Walter Chatwin 11, Albert Chatwin 9[6]

1881 Mechanical Engineer, visitor in Bradford with Susan Chatwin 45 and Amina Chatwin 25[7]

1889 Died in Edgbaston, his sons Alfred and James, both machinists, were executors[8]
