Lt.-Colonel THOMAS CHRISTISON FRASER, I.A.O.C., was born in 1875 and educated at Edinburgh Academy. He received his technical training at Edinburgh University. On the conclusion of a five years' apprenticeship with Messrs. J. and A. Leslie and Reid, civil engineers, in 1901, he was gazetted to the Royal Garrison Artillery with the rank of second lieutenant and three years later was made assistant superintendent of the gun and shell factory at Cossipore, India.
From 1907 to 1918 he was employed on regimental duties. He was then promoted to be D.A.A.G. at Army Headquarters and posted to Cossipore as assistant director of Ordnance Factories in India, being subsequently advanced to the position of deputy director. After holding this appointment for eight years he retired.
Colonel Fraser, whose death occurred at Woodbury, Devonshire, on 22nd January 1943, was elected a Companion of the Institution in 1929. He was also a founder member of the Institution of Engineers of India.
