A native of Norway, whose original name was Olaf Pihlfeldt worked for BSA, and played an important part in the company's business. He became a naturalized Englishman, and died in 1906.

1871 Olaf Pihlfeldt is lodging at 20 West Terrace, Ormseby, Yorkshire (age 27 born Norway), Engineer of blast furnaces and Iron. [1]

1881 Thomas Clements is living at 11 Terrace Road, Handsworth, Staffs (age 33 born Norway), Engineer Draughtsman. With his wife Emma (age 26 born Birmingham). [2]

1885 May. BSA took out a license from Thomas Clements to manufacture ball bearings under his patents, and engaged him as draughtsman
