THOMAS EDGAR HUDSON had for twenty-nine years been an inspector with the National Boiler and General Insurance Company of Manchester.

He was born at Swansea in 1871 and served his apprenticeship at sea. He spent six years on board various boats plying chiefly between the North East Coast and South America, and rose from the position of fourth engineer to first engineer. He then commenced the inspection work which occupied the greater part of his life.

He became an Associate Member of the Institution in 1917, and his death occurred on 28th December 1929.
