1881 Census - Thomas French, resided in Darlington, Corn Miller, employer, 23 men and 4 boys.
1883 Owned the Tees Mills in Stockton-on-Tees (located on the Quay, at the botton of Castlegate). French had recently bought it, and had it extended and re-equipped as a roller mill.[5]
1888 Tees Steam Flour Mills, Yarm, lately in the occupation of Thomas French, for sale by auction.[6]
1890 Durham Directory entry - Thomas French and Co., Tees Roller Flour Mills, Quay Side, Stockton, Corn Exchange, High Street, Stockton and Priestgate Corn Mills (steam), Crown Street, Darlington.[7]
1890 Business merged with others to become Appleton, French and Scrafton, with Thomas French a director.[8]
