1835 The works were founded

1844 Started building railway locomotives

1869 Death of George Harmon Strype, late manager of the Drogheda Ironworks.[1]

1887 Description and drawings of horizontal steam pump. 'This pump was designed about seven years ago by Mr. Schertiger of Aalborg, Denmark, for Messrs. Grendon and Co., large numbers of them having been supplied to breweries, distilleries, and other works where they have given great satisfaction.'[2]

Became Frederick Smith and Co

1913 The works were acquired by Telford and Burn

1914 Traded as the Drogheda Ironworks and operated by Telfer and Taylor

They probably built between 45-50 locomotives
