1783 Born on November 27, 1783, in Northumberland, son of Thomas and his wife Mary.

1810 Went into business with his father and brother William, in a ship building business at St.Peter's, taking over the shipyard of William Rowe. see T. and W. Smith

1849 He married Margaret Collingwood on January 30, 1849, in Earsdon, Northumberland.

1856 He died at the age of 73.
