1832 Sale Notice: 'TO IRON FOUNDERS, ROPE MAKERS, AND OTHERS. By Order of the Assignees of Thomas Walker, TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, By MR. JOHNSON, ..... The following FREEHOLD PROPERTY: Lot 1.— One HALF SHARE or undivided Moiety of and in all that convenient freehold Messuage, Tenement, or Dwelling-house, situate in Newcastle-street, in Burslem aforesaid, now in the occupation of Mr. Thos. Walker.
Lot 2.—All that MOIETY or equal half share of those extensive freehold Premises adjoining the before-mentioned Dwelling-house, replete with every necessary convenience, lately occupied and used as an Iron Foundry, together with the out-buildings and other appendages thereto belonging. Lot 3.—..... Mr. JOHNSON will offer to Sale by Auction, on tbe premises, at the above Iron Foundry, An excellent STEAM ENGINE, eight horses' power, (nearly new) in a complete state of repair; also a cast iron Slide Lathe, calculated for making square thread screws, from one inch and a half to any length not exceeding 18 feet; also a large Boring Lathe, slide rods, blowing machine, a very powerful sliding crane complete, hand and crane ladles, rail and pipe boxes, various beam and other boxes, a large quantity of tools used in the foundry business, slings, chains, hooks, &c. ; iron rail way carriage, stove carriages, rails, grates, stove doors, cupalo with chimney, air furnace cramped with iron, from 20 to 30 tons of cast iron moulders' boxes, and other iron. A great variety of Wood Patterns, comprising pipe patterns, from 2 to 16 inches; several complete sets of Engine Patterns, from 2 to 12 horses' power, also patterns for Engine of 30 horses' power, large quantities of core barrels, from 2 to 6 inches : spur wheels, bevils &c. &c. A quantity of useful Patterns, particularly well adapted and used for silk work, machinery, &c. &c .
Also to be Sold, at the Rope Yard, a large complete Sewing Machine, edges, wheals, reels, &c. &c. ....'[1]
