Thomas Watson Paterson was born in 1887 and obtained his theoretical training at The Edinburgh Technical Schools.
He served a general engineering apprenticeship with Stirlings, Granton, and subsequently obtained experience in automobile repairs and testing with The Scottish Automobile Co.
He then spent several years in business as a garage proprietor on his own account and in 1909 was appointed Superintending Engineer with The Mackay Motor Manufacturing Co., in Nova Scotia.
After a further two years as proprietor of a garage in Newfoundland he became Engineer and Managing Director of Acme Automatic Carburettor, Ltd., of Liverpool.
He died on 27th July, 1937, at the age of 50.
He was elected an Associate Member in 1918.
