1817 A factory was founded in Ekaterinburg on the river Melkovka as a gold mill, built by the architect M.P. Malakhov.

Later converted to a "private manufacturing facility for the production of various kinds of machines". The factory became an iron-casting and mechanical factory owned by the Yates family under Thomas Yates, immigrants from England.

1907-10 Albert Edward Beanland was works manager, responsible for the design and construction of several 500 h.p. tandem triple-expansion steam engines with water-tube boilers for driving large corn mills in the Urals and Siberia[1]
