Thomas and Gilbert of Smethwick, Birmingham

1919 Produced Akkens motorcycles from 1919 to 1921. It was a simple, lightweight machine with a 2.75hp 292cc two-stroke engine with internal and external flywheels. It had Ericsson or EIC ignition and an Amac carburettor. The frame was conventional, but as a basic machine it was suitable only for short journeys.
