1864 The contract for the new Blackfriars Bridge was let to Thorn and Co.

c.1864 P. A. Thorn and Co were contractors for the replacement Blackfriars Bridge; they ordered the necessary ironwork from Lloyds, Fosters and Co, agreeing to pay cash monthly for each delivery. However payments were not received.Problems persisted and much delayed the construction of the bridge.
