Trafalgar Street Bridge (Brighton)

This bridge carries Brighton Railway Station forecourt over Trafalgar Street. The original portion has shallow cast iron arched ribs, with curious cast iron wall brackets. Built by Thomas Cooper of Brighton?
Built in 1845. It was considerably widened by the addition of plate girders when Brighton Station was enlarged. [1]
1877 'The bridge spanning Trafalgar street has been widened, so that it now covers probably more than double the original space, and enables the formation of commodious quadrangle — so to say — which is available for the public accommodation and the general traffic always associated with the railway.' [2]
The steep road provides a trap for unwary drivers of high vehicles, as indicated by broken cast iron brackets.
