Tunbridge Wells Gas Co

1843 The Tunbridge Wells Gas Company was formed by Deed of Settlement in 1843 and later registered as a Joint Stock Company.

1875 Incorporated by Act of Parliament that extended the area of supply and authorized the relocation of the gasworks.

1876 A further Act allowed the location of the new gasworks to be changed.

1891 The Southborough Gas Order authorized the formation of the Southborough Gas Light and Coke Company. The purchase of this undertaking by the Southborough Local Board was authorized by the Southborough Local Board (Gas) Act 1892.

1898 Tunbridge Wells Gas provided a bulk supply of gas to this undertaking from 1898

1921 The Tunbridge Wells Gas Order authorized the company to purchase the Southborough Undertaking

1929 Tunbridge Wells GC purchased the Crowborough District Gas Company.

1933 A controlling interest in the Tunbridge Wells GC was acquired by the South Eastern Gas Corporation

1949 On nationalisation the undertaking became part of the Kent County Division of SEGB.
