Turnbridge Lift Bridge (Huddersfield)

From Graces Guide

The Turnbridge Lift Bridge (also known as the Locomotive lift bridge) spans the Huddersfield Broad Canal at Turnbridge, Kirklees, West Yorkshire.

It opened in 1865, replacing an earlier swing bridge.

Originally operated manually using a winch, it was modified in 2002 and is now electrically powered.

See Wikipedia entry

In 1953 the timber framework was replaced by steel. In 1975 a stronger deck was installed. Further modifications were carried out in the 1990s[1]
