1868 The business of R. W. Swinburne and Co was rescued by Charles Mark Palmer and became the Tyne Plate Glass Company

1886 New company registered to take over the Tyne Plate Glass Works at South Shields, belonging to Charles Mark Palmer, trading as the Tyne Plate Glass Company. The subscibers were:-

  • C. M. Palmer, Newcastle, coalowner
  • A. M. Palmer, Newcastle, glass manufacturer
  • J. Gregory, Newcastle, coal fitter
  • R. Watson Cape, Newcastle, solicitor
  • Edmund Brown, South Shields, glass manufacturer
  • J. Price, Newcastle, engineer
  • J. Hall, Newcastle, merchant

1891 Company closed and the site taken over by the Harton Coal Co
