1973 Acquired Wares and Bartlett, builders merchants and contractors of Newcastle upon Tyne[6]
United Builders Merchants changed its name to UBM Group

- UBM-Harvey, of Truro
- UBM-MAC, of Bristol
- UBM-Mercian, of Birmingham
- UBM-Rycroft, of Bradford
1983 Norcros made an abortive bid for UBM builders merchants
1985 Norcros succeeded in a later bid for UBM[8]
1989 Norcros arranged to sell UBM to Meyer International who in turn sold Crosby Manufacturing to Norcros[9]
