1994 United Defense L.P. was formed as a joint venture between Harsco Corporation and the defense division of Food Machinery Corporation (FMC).

1997 The Carlyle Group acquires United Defense.

2000 Acquired Bofors Weapons Systems

2001 United Defense went public on the New York Stock Exchange.

2005 Acquired by BAE Systems[1], becoming part of Land and Armaments Division. United Defense had been producing the Bradley family of armoured vehicles for the US Army for more than 20 years[2]
